Where did our name come from? It started with a discussion around our role as way-finders. We aren’t just lawyers, we’re guides: we find order in chaos, direction in confusion, and a pathway when all paths seemingly lead to nowhere. Plotting our own place on the map was the only natural way to start. Born in North Carolina, located along parallel 36°30′, we decided to call ourselves thirty-six|thirty.
Matt Jamison
For more than a decade, Matt has worked with some of the Southeast's most prestigious law firms, and he has dealt with nearly every imaginable issue facing today’s technologically savvy and entrepreneurial clients: hundred-million dollar patent litigations; patent assertion entities; trademarks and branding; software licensing agreements; and business and construction deals gone bad. He's even gone head-to-head with the estate of one of Hollywood's biggest stars over personality rights. He’s counseled clients on successfully resolving litigation without spending a fortune, putting their intellectual property rights and assets to work, and trademark and patent prosecution. Matt has also worked as a design engineer for one of the world's leading high-tech companies, where he helped design, build, and install one-off manufacturing robotics.
Matt is unique among attorneys in that he is a strong advocate for design thinking, a problem solving framework that emphasizes both analytical and creative approaches and draws upon methods from engineering, industrial design, fine arts, and social science to form insights into the world around us. Matt practice is designed to provide counsel to both large corporations and up-and-coming entrepreneurs.
